LDA Engineering is back as the presenting sponsor for Tour de Nash! We asked LDA about their work, the development of multimodal infrastructure in Nashville, and their favorite places to explore on two wheels.

Thanks to LDA Engineering for your support!

“At LDA Engineering, we envision cities where people come first — where walking, biking, and community connection shape the way we move,” said Zack Daniel, President of LDA Engineering. “Tour de Nash represents more than a ride. It’s a way to show the community that through sustainable infrastructure, we can work together to create healthier, more vibrant neighborhoods throughout Nashville and Davidson County.”

—Zack Daniel, President, LDA Engineering

You’ve been a sponsor of Walk Bike Nashville for six years! What wins, changes, and memories with the group can you point to since you’ve gotten involved?

It’s been exciting to see the continued participation and growing interest from the Nashville community, even though COVID, rainy days and various other challenges have presented themselves over the years. It’s inspiring to see how the riders, vendors, sponsors, NDOT and Walk Bike Nashville continuously show up and successfully execute this event every year.

This year, our 5-Mile City Tour is designed to encourage riders to explore new parts of downtown. What are some favorite memories of places you’ve explored or discovered on a bike?

From LDA’s Taylor Hagood, principal engineer and client services lead:

Some of my favorite places that I have explored on a bike are the Appalachian Mountains, urban Pacific Northwest, and landscapes along the Gulf and Atlantic Coasts. These sites are all fun settings to have experienced on a bike, but my favorite place to explore is Music City — the place we call home, where we're experiencing rapid growth in bikeways facilities. I especially enjoy exploring our local greenways system and riding along the Cumberland River.

What does a “Street for People” mean to you?

At LDA, Streets for People means a safe space for users of all ages, abilities and mobility types. Whether walking, biking, driving, using mobility devices or riding public transit, Streets for People means the space is for everyone, especially the most vulnerable users.

How does LDA encourage the use of active transportation for its employees?

LDA encourages team members to participate in Bike to Work Day, and several team members do so regularly. LDA’s Nashville office is conveniently located across from a WeGo transit stop, making multimodal transportation convenient and accessible for employees.

LDA’s project delivery team also puts “wheels to the ground” and rides projects during the planning and engineering phase to experience the true environment as an end user. This gives the LDA team another interactive perspective on the existing conditions and challenges with each corridor.

LDA sponsors Tour de Nash, Urban Runoff 5k and other events to promote active transportation and healthy lifestyles.

Other events that LDA is involved with throughout the year include the following:

  • Bike to School Day
  • Walk to School Day
  • Bike Month
  • Community bike rides
  • Open Streets
  • PARKing Day

What other charitable causes does LDA support in the Nashville community?

  • Metro Nashville Beautification’s Adopt-a-Street Program
  • STEM engagement for the next generation including $500k contribution to STEM by 2030
  • United Way
  • Habitat for Humanity
  • Building Bikes for Nashville Youth
