About Bike to School Day

Bike to School Day is a national celebration that both encourages students to ride to school and challenges communities to create better, safer places to ride. Since 2023, Walk Bike Nashville has partnered with Napier Elementary School to bring traffic calming infrastructure to Cannon Street near the school. We’ve also ridden with the students and helped provide a fun “finish line” at the school — it’s one of the most joyful days of our year!

Read more about traffic calming efforts enacted in Napier, or check out a video recap from the 2025 event.

About Safe Routes to School

Safe Routes to School is a program that encourages students to commute to school via walking or biking; educates teachers, parents, and students about safe walking and biking; and provides opportunities for students to be more physically active. To learn how the program is making a difference in Nashville, read our recap of Ruby Bridges Walk to School Day 2026!
