Championing a More Multimodal Nashville

Residents and tourists can expect to see hundreds of people on bikes all over the city this Saturday as Walk Bike Nashville hosts the 20th annual Tour de Nash–Nashville’s largest urban bike ride. This event serves as our organization's largest fundraiser of the year and it would not be possible without the generous support of our presenting sponsor, LDA Engineering. We asked LDA to share a bit about who they are, what they do, and why they are invested in a more multimodal Nashville.

LDA Engineering believes in finding solutions through multimodal connections that help communities promote a more walkable, bikeable, and livable environment for all. The Tour de Nash is just one way for LDA to get out in the community to share the work we are doing to enhance the opportunities for individuals to bike throughout Nashville, specifically through the addition of bike lanes and sidewalks.

How long has LDA been a supporter of Walk Bike Nashville?

LDA Engineering first became involved with Walk Bike Nashville in 2019 after learning about the impactful work, education, and advocacy that Walk Bike Nashville does on a daily basis for our city, especially promoting events like the Tour de Nash to encourage riders of all ages and abilities to bike across our city. 

 

This will be the fourth year LDA has been the presenting sponsor of Tour de Nash. What do you love most about this event?

LDA Engineering loves the opportunity to gather with the community and share in their excitement to ride their bike throughout the city. Tour de Nash also provides us an opportunity to share the work we are doing to enhance the opportunities for individuals of all ages and abilities to move throughout Nashville, specifically through the addition of bikeways and sidewalks, and receive feedback from the community on their mobility challenges and preferences. We look forward to Tour de Nash each year to directly engage with the communities we serve. 

Why do you think walkability, bikeability, and livability are important?

Our core mission at LDA is to build stronger, happier communities. It is why we do what we do. Creating a community with accessible multimodal mobility options for all users is our responsibility, and we are committed to doing our part in building a more walkable, bikeable, and livable environment for everyone.

How does LDA encourage the use of active transportation for its employees?

LDA Engineering encourages employees to bike, walk, and use public transit to work (there is a WeGo transit stop across the street). We encourage our team to walk and bike each project corridor we are involved with during the planning phase to experience the true, living environment. There are elements along each corridor you can only experience with feet or wheels on the ground. 

     
What other ways does LDA help foster a car-optional Nashville?

LDA Engineering contributes to a more car-optional Nashville through our partnership with NDOT, WeGo, and non-profit advocacy organizations. Our team serves as the prime consultant partner managing the NDOT Sidewalk and Bikeways program. As NDOT’s partner for the program, we work together to maintain and expand the existing 1,335 miles of sidewalks and 312 miles of bikeways throughout Nashville.

  • STEM engagement with the next generation including $500k contribution to STEM by 2030.
  • $120k in sponsored scholarships for students in our region to further their education.
