Tell state leaders to end the trend and save lives
In Tennessee, the number of fatal crashes continues to rise at an alarming rate, with roughly 1,000 Tennesseans losing their lives each year in fatal crashes. The past decade, over 11,000 people have lost their lives on Tennessee's roadways and over 60,000 have been seriously injured. These numbers are not just data points - they represent lives cut short, costly medical bills, and shattered families. Despite this, the state's own targets predict annual increases in fatalities. We have to change that.

Our petition aims to end this deadly trend by demanding action from state leaders. The newly adopted Tennessee Strategic Highway Safety Plan has a stated mission of achieving "zero (0) fatalities and serious injuries on Tennessee roadways" but has success metrics that would see an annual increase in crash fatalities.
This essentially means that more lives could be lost on our roadways in the coming years, and the state would consider it an achievement under this plan. We see these targets in direct conflict with the state's mission to reduce fatalities. By signing this petition, you're telling state leaders to take the action necessary to save lives by aiming to reduce fatal and serious injury crashes in Tennessee.

By signing this petition, I call on Governor Bill Lee, my state legislators, and the Tennessee Department of Transportation to end the trend and set success metrics that lead to a decrease in fatalities and serious injuries on our roads.
