2nd Annual Golden Pheasant Triathlon is
Sunday October, 13
Kayak, Bike, and Run your way around Shelby Bottoms to find the Golden Pheasant!
The Golden Pheasant is one of Shelby Bottoms' most alluring and storied residents. This non-competitive kayak, bike, run is a single-distance event that celebrates the search for the mysterious bird in one of Nashville's most beloved parks. The kayak portion is about 2 miles on the Cumberland River, from there you will bike 8-10 miles along the Shelby Greenway and surrounding neighborhood, and finish with a 2-3 mile run within the park. Costumes always encouraged, good times guaranteed.
Hosted by Walk Bike Nashville, Cumberland Kayak, and East Nasty Running Club, this second annual event is sure to be an East Nashville tradition - get in before it's cool.
Kayaks: You can bring your own kayak/canoe for this event, or rent either a single or tandem kayak from Cumberland Kayak. If you bring your own boat you will be responsible for carrying your boat to/from the river. All boats must be dropped off at the start area before 8:15am.
Heats: This year we will have 4 heats of 30 people. Those who want to go fast are recommended to go in the early heats, though reminder this is a fun-first event, not a race. We won't be keeping track of your time for you. Each heat will have 12 solo kayak spots, 4 tandem kayaks (8 people) and 10 BYO-Kayak spots.
Bicycles: We recommend you bring your bicycle. Don't have a bicycle? You can reserve one from B-Cycle on the checkout page. We will have bicycle racks at the start/transition area.
Safety: Life jackets required for all boat trips. Helmets required for all on bicycle-segment.
